Bogut returns to KDKA
November 22, 2014Earlier today, Jack Bogut announced on his website blog that he will return to KDKA-AM (1020). The move is not a “full-time” gig, rather it’s an opportunity to share the stories he’s been known for for many years. “KDKA has been kind enough to invite me back on the air Monday through Friday at 5:20 PM, to do what I used to do – share stories and show Home Movies on radio – projected on that big personal screen of imagination that only you can see,” says his blog post. The new segment begins on December 1.
Bogut came to Pittsburgh in 1968 when he became the host of KDKA’s morning show. He stayed for 15 years before heading to WTAE-AM (1250). He then showed up on WSHH (99.7) and most recently spent 17 years on WJAS (1320). His website is found at storytellerjack.com.
GREAT move, KDKA!! Can’t wait to spend my afternoon drive with my ole’ Bogut… in the afternoon!
KDKA has made a brilliant move. Storytelling is becoming a lost art form in today’s world of speeding electrons. Bogut has regaled millions of Pittsburghers through the years with his timeless stories, and should be a perfect fit with the strong afternoon talent lineup at AM1020. I’m thinking of sending him a copy of his “Old Oaken Bogut” jingle I still have from our 1970s days together in Someplace Special.

My Mom in Clarion County, for one, will be very glad to hear this news. Seeing a message from another great from KD, Joel Zelle, is a bonus to me. My brother met Zelle at Cook Forest after the PM driver finished a canoe trip along the Clarion River.
Well, I *TRIED* listening to Bogut on KDKA via the web today, Monday, Dec. 1. I tuned in at 5 p.m. and waited for his commentary but too bad it couldn’t be heard due to web-driven advertisements. CBS is the worst when it comes to listening on the web.
