Bob-FM bouncing to the second spot for February
March 24, 2022Not often that I talk about the ratings on here anymore – especially now they are released monthly. But it’s worth noting that WRRK (96.9) has reached number 2 for the month of February beaten out only by WWSW (94.5). WDVE (102.5) comes in third which looks to be better than January for the 50+ year old rocker. Speaking of that, it seems like all I ever see on Social Media is how tired people are of DVE.
What’s remarkable about 3-W-S in the number one spot is its consistently carrying double digit shares. December was 11.1 and the holidays bumped it to a 15.5. For January and February it was a 10.1 and 10.8 respectively.
WRRK’s December number was 8.4 with a holiday slump to 7.3. January and February were 9.0 and 9.8 respectively.
Some stations are now showing their streaming numbers. Most of the measurements are so miniscule it proves a certain viability in continuing to keep the masts and towers constructed high on a hill. The audiences are still mostly listening through the magic of over the air broadcasting.
DVE sucks. That is one station in this market I never, ever wanted to work at. Another one is KDKA. Never wanted to work there either. As far as No-Heart Radio, I wish they’d just vanish.

I liked DVE more when the focus was on the music and deep dives into albums, and you heard Pink Floyd’s new album The Wall along side Zeppelin from ten years earlier, in the same hour. DVE Quickies, Electric Lunch and For Headphones Only over night.. It seemed bigger than life, a legend.
I don’t know how they’d get that sound back again, but with all the talent being grown on line now, it shouldn’t be hard to find good hosts, and there’s new album rock out there to be discovered, and some of it has sounds that would be familiar to classic DVE fans. It’s all out there, and they could advance at the same time as they continue to play to the strengths that made them famous.
As for streaming, it’s rare for me, most of the time when I have access to a stream, I have a radio right there too. I would want the stream if it had the advantage of better sound quality, that would be important.
Why not go to Carnegie Museum instead of listening to WDVE anyway? The playlist and bones are close in age.
