13Q jock Pall dies
April 13, 2021AllAccess reports today that former 13Q (WKTQ 1320) jock, Cary Pall died unexpectedly Sunday at his home in Cincinnati. Pall had a long career in addition to the 1970s stop in Pittsburgh. He was the founding programmer and chief engineer of WMMO in Orlando and had worked as a program director for several of the major radio corporations throughout his career. One of his recent projects was Superradio where he was chief music curator for their 9 music channels and the music director and imaging voiceover for their Solid Gold USA channel. Pall was aged 69 at the time of his death.
Thanks for the update, Chris. Cary was a phenominal radio person. We first became aware of him when he was “Rock Marshall” in Utica-and applied to WAXC and WBBF (among others). He got hired across the street at WBBF -and helped them tear up the market for a few years. He made his way through Cincinnati and then Pittsburgh and 13Q. Cary was a brilliant man who couldn’t be outdone. He basically invented one form of “Triple A” at WMMO in Orlando and had a non-stop idea filled brain. I’m sorry to hear of his passing. We worked together on “Superradio”-and his sense of humor and timing never left.
