Comment GuidelinesWelcome to PBRTV's Comment Guidelines - formerly known as the Mailbag.
GuidelinesIn February of 2007 PBRTV decided to close the Mailbag. Unlike other, similar sites, the mailbag was becoming difficult to maintain. Readers are now invited to post comments following individual stories on the main page. The Mailbag Archive remains as a part of PBRTV in case anyone is interested in reading the posts from 1998-2007. Guidelines remain in effect for posting comments to PBRTV.1.) Editing Policy -- All comments posted to PBRTV are moderated. This means they must be reviewed and approved by an editor before they are seen on the website. We will review them to make sure they are relevant, do not fit the description of a "personal attack" (see below) and are fit for use. We reserve the right to edit where necessary. If you see an email that lacks taste (which may have slipped through our fingers) please let me know at once at PBRTV@aol.com 2.) Personal Attacks -- While criticism and comments about any topic are welcome, personal attacks on people are not. Depending on the nature of the message it will either be edited or thrown it out ntirely. 3.) The Definition of a Personal Attack -- Sometimes this is not easy to decide. Simple criticism of someone's radio/TV show is not a personal attack. For example, "The John Shmo Show is an awful show because it lacks appeal." That is NOT a personal attack. Professional criticism is certainly acceptable. To say someone is a jerk, an idiot, is having an affair, etc. etc. is not fair to that person or anyone else. The message will be deleted. 4.) Punctuation and Spelling -- its always nice if its checked befour posting 5.) Advertising -- In the past, some folks have used the Mailbag for posting advertisements. We were fine with that. However, all events to be advertised can only be radio or TV events. For example, "The former staff and crew of XXXX-FM radio are invited to a reunion at The Palace Inn in Monroeville on such and such a date." Any events that don't deal with radio or TV will be thrown out. Now such postings will be listed on our main page. 6.) Signing Your Name -- I encourage you to sign your emails. Having a signed email for my benefit allows PBRTV to get to know who you are. All respect is given to those who do not wish to have their name published on the PBRTV Mailbag. 7.) Anonymous Messages -- The nature of our comment system asks that you provide a name. Pseudonyms are welcome as long as you consistently use the same one! 8.) Are e-mails no longer welcome? -- Quite the contrary! E-mails will always be welcome at PBRTV. Sometimes the editor-in-chief answers them in a posting. Thanks for your understanding. Any suggestions? Email us at PBRTV@aol.com.
