WJET DT now at full power

Erie-Meadville: Viewers missing WJET's analog signal should now be able to get a very solid digital signal from the ABC affiliate. Over the air viewers will need to rescan their digital TV sets or converter boxes in order to get the digital station on 24-1. The low powered channel Jet was using on 58-3 was shut off Thursday morning. For me, the station is very strong and has readings up to 92% which is comparable to sister station WFXP 66-1 (22). Feel free to share your reception reports for WJET DT here.

On my Dish Network converter box, WJET is coming in on 71-1, even after re-scanning for channels. Not sure why that’s happening, but I don’t really care as long as it keeps coming in well.

I have the Dish DTV Pal as well and found the same problem when I was getting a couple stations that said they were channel 27 for example. One would remain 27 and the other would be 70 or 71. Have you rescanned since Jet shut off it’s low powered station? If you have and it still comes up as 71, you’ll have to totally reboot your box and rescan. I did that once the other 27 was no longer there and it went to the right channel assignment.

Thanks for the tip, Tom. After restoring the box to factory defaults and rescanning, Jet came in on 24.1

Tom, I live near 54th and Washington,(I can see the Peach St. Towers from here) and I have 2 conv boxes with indoor UHF bow ties on both TV’s. I have deleted and rescaned several times but WJET picture is digitalized badly. Fox is solid 95 out of 100 but WJET is barely 20.

That is interesting Paul since both stations are using the same tower for Fox & Jet. I have heard some others on the AVS board who are north of the towers are also experiencing the same reception problems. Without being able to test the signal before going on the air with it, this is one of the risks of going on the air without fully testing beforehand.
