Merry Christmas from 3-W-S

Pittsburgh:

Yes, the Holiday Season has begun and WWSW (94.5) has beaten everyone to the punch...er uh egg nog. You can see the website promotes it as "Commercial Free". In fact, the website still looks Halloweenish. So now that one station has jumped the ship, who's next?

(As a public service, we'd like to remind all of our readers that Christmas is still scheduled for December 25 and runs for 12 days thereafter.)

Eric,
I was listening to 3WS yesterday and they said this is a 3 day Christmas pass, but Christmas music will continue on 3WS HD or 3ws.com.

Are they preparing for a format flip?

I don’t know why they’d flip the format. They did pretty well this book. Short term or long, I think this is ridiculously early to be touting the Christmas music.

I think I found a way to solve the energy crisis, I’m sure my maternal grandmother is spinning in her grave, all I have to do is hook a generator up to her. She would say, “it’s not even Halloween or even Armistice Day yet.”

When I was tuning around the dial, I heard Christmas music on 3WS. I wonder why in the last few years we have had a plethora of Christmas only stations that start as early as October. Well, they say they will return to normal on Monday but for how long.

I just turn it off. Geez, next thing you know, we will have all holidays all year long – It will be Christmas, Halloween, Easter, etc. every day!

How about a new fall / early winter format called “Halchrlowistweenmas”. A mix of Halloween and Christmas songs altogether. “Thriller” into “Rudolph” followed by “The Monster Mash”, “Grandma got run over by a Reindeer” followed by “Ghostbusters.” The liners could call it “The best mix of Heaven and Hell.”
