Bell back temporarily

Pittsburgh:

Viewers of WTAE-TV (4) may have been surprised to see Wendy Bell back in the anchor chair Monday night. Bell gave birth to twin boys a little over a week ago. Just after the weather segment Bell announced that she was back until the twins were big enough to come home. The babies were born eight weeks early and both children weigh less than 3 pounds and aren't able to be released yet. So, rather than waste the maternity leave while the babies are receiving the "best of care", Bell has opted to save it for when they do come home.

(Almost un-necessary aside: We're taking bets that someone will e-mail PBRTV or even Rob at the Post-Gazette during that time to ask if Wendy has left the station.)

The fact the she is not with her infants is inexcusable. I worked in a hospital for years and the only parents who are not with their kids in the NICU are drug addicts or self absorbed egotistical freaks who can’t figure out what is a priority. This is wrong on so many levels I dont know where to start!! WHat about the recovery time for Ms. Bell, or is her hralth unimportant to the station. What kind of manager says yes to a woman coming so soon who does not need to financially. GIve her an extra month of but this is just plain bad management.
