WLSW has new format
Pittsburgh: Noticed today by Alert Reader/Listener Clarke Ingram, WLSW (103.9) Scottdale appears to have a new format. The station is now airing a satellite 60s and 70s format throughout most of the day parts. Jeff Gerard remains a part of the station in the afternoons from 3:00 - 7:00. The weekend programs will remain in tact.Readers’ Forum
Why on earth would WLSW go oldies full time? Especially a satellite format! I think Stan might be putting this station up for sale with this move. Why would you put oldies in an area that has NO OTHER LOCAL ALTERNATIVE than country? I’m sure with 620/770, WGSM, The Pickle, and 3WS everyone will be flocking to this station now. I will miss the a/c format they were running middays. This was how a JACK format should be programmed. You honestly never knew what would be played next. Before Music Power 104 went automated, I thought it was neat how they would play the original 45s of some of the 80s tunes. WPQR 99.3 used to do this too. BTW, anyone know what service the new WLSW is using? Listening to the morning show the production was really low budget sounding – definitely not Dial Global or Citadel. The processing sounded like someone using a Radio Shack mic in their living room – very flat and low key for a satellite delivered format. Stan, PLEASE bring back the old format of Music Power 104! This just wasn’t necessary!

I listened to LSW when Stan Wall was simulcasting on his other station (WQTW 1570AM in Latrobe) a few years back, and I absolutely LOVED it! It was really nice hearing radio that wasn’t canned and was truly unpredictable. Afternoon drive jock Jeff Girard may be one of the unsung heroes of local radio. I just wish LSW can boost their signal into Latrobe a little stronger.

When listening to my favorite morning DJ show, the lady DJ was complaining about something she was prevented from doing, and was very upset. Next week she was gone.
I don’t like the current version at all. I don’t want to listen to those worn out songs 60s 70s. Its only the morning or day show that has changed.
